East Highlands & Moser Highland
Many of the communities in Naperville and Plainfield were developed by Macom Corp, founded by local entrepreneur Harold Moser (who also founded The Naperville Sun and Moser Lumber). The tree-lined residential streets directly around Downtown Naperville have become known as Moser Highlands. The East Highlands is a pocket of about 600 homes in this area just east of the DuPage River and south of Prairie Avenue. Moser employed local contractors to construct a wide variety of homes, avoiding the cookie-cutter tract home style. Since then, a wide number of builders have been active in the area, lending to a wide variety of homes. Many of the classic split-levels built by Moser in the 1950s and 60s still stand, while others have been fully remodeled or replaced by larger and more modern homes. Residents attend Highlands Elementary, Kennedy Junior High, and Naperville Central High School.
